Good afternoon!
"For the joy of the Lord is my strength." Nehemiah 8:10
The clouds should clear off, the sun should shine, and tonight we will have a fun night downtown Bryan at Gloria Sale Park. Join us for First Friday, bring a friend, bring a lawn chair, and if you want to contribute to a community table of food, feel free to share. We have a grill, hamburgers, hotdogs, drinks, and chips! We will begin gathering around 5pm.
Mark your Sunday morning for worship at our regular time of 10:00am. Methodist 101 and Rev. Shelby's Sunday School will be at their regular time of 8:45am. We will finish our sermon series, Thrive, by talking about the joy that comes from the Lord and living out the call that is placed on our hearts.
Remember that next Tuesday, May 7th we will be feeding the teachers of Mitchell Elementary School. If you have signed up to help, please bring your money or items to Ms. Rose on Sunday or on Tuesday morning at 7:30am. If you can help deliver, serve, or clean up we could use hands at the church starting at 9:30am. We will start at church and then end at Mitchell Elementary.
The BCC men's group meets at IHOP on Wednesday mornings at 6:30am. If you have not had the opportunity to join in fellowship, devotion, and service yet, please make it a point to have conversation, coffee, and fellowship.
Finally, Wednesdays have been a great time and space to learn from God's work through the book of Galatians. We were blessed last Wednesday as Ms. Shelby challenged us to stay united in our faith, stay at the table in our differences, and love like Jesus. God's wisdom has been profound for all our littles, teens, and adults at Wednesday Bible Study. Join as we gather at 5:30pm and then study from 6:15pm-7:15pm
It is always a blessing to join with you in fellowship and worship. I look forward to seeing you tonight at downtown Bryan! If I do not see you, I look forward to worshipping with you Sunday!
In Christ,
Pastor Jennifer
Good afternoon!
"God's words are pure and a shield for those who trust in him" Proverbs 30:5
It is Wednesday and you are halfway through your work week! Why not let tonight's Galatians study get you through the rest of the week. Join us at BCC from 6:15-7:15pm for Bible Study. Everyone is invited to this. If you have not made it out yet, I hope you will join. It is never too late! (Doors will open at 5:30pm. Bring your dinner. All ages are welcome!)
First Friday is this week! See you at Gloria Sale Park! Bring something to share or throw on the grill. Tell your friends, family, and neighbors about this great outing. It is the perfect way to connect those who do not have a church home to Bryan Community Church.
Rose Cates also wanted everyone to know that she and the BCC ladies are organizing TACO TUESDAY for Mitchelle Elementary Teachers next Tuesday, May 7th. Lunch will be served from 10:50am-1:00pm. Please bring food donations to the church at 7:30am to Rose for anyone who works, if you can help carry items from BCC to Mitchelle she needs volunteers at 9:30am, and then volunteers are needed to help serve and clean up starting at 10:00am and ending around 1:30pm. If you wish to make a monetary donation you are welcome to do so and can see Rose tonight or Sunday at BCC.
Finally, I want to encourage you all to be in continuous invitation. Invite someone you know to worship, invite someone to First Friday, invite someone to VBS, or invite someone to lunch. We have good news to share and the love of Jesus to demonstrate. Invitation should become a natural part of who we are as disciples of Christ.
Hope to see you all this evening!
Pastor Jen
Good evening!
I am looking forward to joining you in worship tomorrow! This is just a reminder that this month is child abuse prevention month. In support of our children and if you are able, please wear blue. Methodist 101 and Rev. Rowan's Adult Sunday school classes will be held tomorrow at 8:45am. Everyone is invited to bring something for the breakfast table in the morning. Worship is at its usual time, 10:00am!
See you then!
Pastor Jennifer
Good evening!
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:16
I have had multiple people (non-church related) come up to me while in the community sharing how much they love to see the church's lights come through the stained glass. One neighbor within Austin's Colony said, "I forgot how beautiful those windows are!" These small and unsolicited comments are what I would like to call "God winks" that affirm the work that we are doing together. As two congregations have merged into one, God's light is truly shining through the people who gather for worship on Sundays and who go out and serve throughout the week. If I have not thanked you, please know that I am incredibly grateful for your faithfulness as the body of Christ. As we continue to work together, God's light will shine brighter than those windows! God's light will shine through your smiles, hugs, handshakes, time serving at the local food pantry, the schools in our neighborhoods, at your places of work, and while talking to your next-door neighbor. Never underestimate the power of Christ living in and through you as you tell the story of Jesus and act out of goodness, grace, and love for those God has put in your path!
I wanted to reach out to everyone this evening to remind you of our BCC board meeting tomorrow evening at 6:30pm at 2901 Austin's Colony Parkway. We will be discussing immediate needs and long-term needs as we organize as a chartered church. We will also be recruiting volunteers to help serve on our various ministry teams. If you have a heart and passion for a particular area of ministry, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. A few areas that we will need your help serving are the church food pantry, children's ministries, building and maintenance, youth ministry, and young adult ministry. If you feel the call to help continue the work and ministry of loving God, loving people, and sharing Christ's hope with the world, please do not hesitate to reach out. Everyone is welcome to attend the meeting.
VBS Pre-Registration-Don't forget to pre-register for our first VBS! June 3rd-6th we will open our doors and share the love of Jesus with one another and our neighbors. Help us share the word of God and the information of our exciting week! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE SIGN UP AT https://docs.google.com/forms/
BCC Men's Group at IHOP join the men of BCC at the Bryan IHOP on Wednesday mornings at 6:30am! Everyone is welcome!
Wednesday Night Bible Study Wednesdays are for everyone! Kids, teens, and adults are invited as we study the book of Galatians as a church. Bring a brown bagged dinner, pick up your favorite fast food, or reach out to me if you need help grabbing an extra sandwich or few for the family. Church doors open at 5:30pm. Study is from 6:15pm-7:15pm. You will be home early to get the kiddos in bed!
Youth Yard Sale this Saturday! Help fundraise for summer camp. If you have any items you wish to donate for the yard sale, please bring them to the church on Wednesday evening. If you cannot come on Wednesday evening, please reach out to Kelli Griffin at kellicgriffin@yahoo.com to coordinate. It is most helpful to have your items already marked. If you wish to help sponsor a student for camp you are welcome to do so. It costs $575 per student to attend a week long camp full of fun, faith, and fellowship. Last year we celebrated a handful of students who gave their life to Christ at church camp! If you wish to give $20 or $500, every little bit is helpful.
Cans for Camp (and other youth events)-BCC has a large trash can for aluminum cans in the kitchen. Please begin collecting cans at home and at church for the youth to turn in to help support their ministries.
If you need any prayers, a pastoral care visit, or wish to learn more about Bryan Community Church, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. It would be my honor to pray with you or find time to have coffee or tea to get to know how we can serve you better.
Your sister,
Pastor Jennifer
